Access to Stringr’s Network of Over 90,000 Amateur and Professional Freelance Videographers Now Available through TVU Global Grid

Stringr’s network of professional and amateur videographers is now available through the TVU Global Grid, the Cloud platform for content owners to contribute and pull video, enabling assets to be shared and sold on a global scale. The relationship leverages Stringr’s robust network of videographers and the established global presence of the TVU Grid distribution platform.

TVU Grid is an IP-based switching, routing and distribution system. With TVU Grid, stations can route live video streams over IP networks to one or more Grid-enabled news stations anywhere in the world with sub-second latency. Using its TVU Global Grid platform, users can exchange, share, and sell video content. Stringr allows users to access its content library and request custom footage from over 90,000 videographers around the world. In addition, broadcasters, publishers and brands in the U.S. and U.K. can access Stringr’s livestreaming function, which launch earlier this year. Users will now be able to put out requests through TVU Grid, and as a videographer in Stringr’s network begins sharing live footage, it will be transmitted directly to TVU Grid.

The Stringr/TVU Grid workflow is seamless. A joint customer requests video from Stringr. When one of Stringr’s 90,000+ videographers goes live with video matching the request, the feed is sent through Stringr, straight into TVU Grid. From there, the joint customer can take the feed just as they would for any other TVU content.

TV Azteca Deploys TVU Remote Production System for Annual Hollywood Awards Show Coverage

Cost-Effective Set Up Provided High-Quality, Reliable Live Coverage from Remote and “Studio” Location

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – April 23, 2019 – TVU Networks, the global technology and innovation leader in live IP solutions, today announced that TV Azteca, one of Mexico’s largest media companies, produced its coverage of Hollywood’s most prestigious awards show held annually in February with the company’s innovative TVU Remote Production System(TVU RPS). TVU RPS was used to transmit video footage from TV Azteca’s mobile unit at the venue in Los Angeles to a remote studio set up in a nearby hotel. A small stage on the terrace of the hotel suite served as a makeshift talk show set for commentary from the hosts during the live broadcast.

With director Alfonso Cuarón taking home three statuettes that night for “Roma,” the critically acclaimed drama set in Mexico, this year’s award celebration was of considerable regional interest to TV Azteca viewers. It was the first Mexican film to win the “Best Foreign Language” category.

“This was likely the most watched this presentation has ever been in Mexico,” said José Vera, Especial Events Technical Director, TV Azteca. “We needed to create a broadcast for our audience that looked great, included a lot of live interaction with our hosts, but didn’t add a ton of cost. TVU RPS maintained extremely high video quality video as it traveled from the hotel to the production unit and back. It allowed us to reliably transport video from one location to another, yielding professional-level results while still making economic sense.”

TVU RPS allows broadcasters to leverage an existing studio control room infrastructure and a public Internet connection from any venue to deliver frame accurate, genlocked and synchronized multi-camera remote production. The product consists of one rack-mount transmitter (encoder) and one rack-mount receiver (decoder).

TV Azteca installed the RPS encoder at the hotel and the RPS decoder at the mobile unit as a backup solution. The networks successfully sent three high-quality streams from the hotel terrace to the parked mobile unit at the theatre, as well as a return feed from the mobile unit back to the hotel.

“They were looking for something with rock-solid reliability and no degradation during transmission that was also cost-effective,” said Rafael Castillo, General Manager of Latin America, TVU Networks. “RPS was an ideal solution for them. With RPS, there is zero video degradation, no matter the transmission distance. I’m thrilled we were able to help TV Azteca produce such dynamic coverage of a very important live event.”

RPS performed so well during the event, that TV Azteca plans to extend its use to coverage of sporting events, including football matches.

TVU RPS provides a lower cost alternative for live remote synchronized multi-camera coverage for news and sports. With RPS, broadcasters no longer need to rely on production trucks and large production crews. It features an easy-to-use web interface for monitoring and controlling all aspects of the transmission, including real-time previews of all-six channels, current bit-rate and latency. The TVU RPS transmitter can encode up to six synchronized SDI sources and transmit high quality and low latency IP video to the TVU receiver, which in turn outputs six synchronized SDI outputs.

G-Link runs on TVU MediaMind servers, with two servers paired together to form a link. TVU Networks and South Korea’s KT Corp. Partner in World’s First 5G UHD Broadcast Network

Collaboration Reaffirms TVU Networks’ Commitment to the Power and Possibility of Advanced Video Capability Over 5G

 

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – March 20, 2019 – TVU Networks, the global technology and innovation leader in live IP solutions, today announced a partnership with KT Corp., the largest telecom company in South Korea, to bring UHD broadcast over KT’s 5G enterprise network. Under terms of the agreement, KT and TVU Networks will work collaboratively to establish an enterprise 5G network and related broadcast capabilities in Korea.

KT, formerly known as Korea Telecom, showcased the world’s first trial 5G services during the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games in February 2018. KT also broadcast live the last concert of K-pop group Wanna One on its IPTV service, Olleh TV, earlier this year. The broadcast was delivered through set-top boxes and mobile devices using the 5G network. KT is expected to launch the network’s full-scale commercialization in April.

This recent partnership marks a major step in TVU Networks’ continued commitment to 5G technology. The company has been at the forefront of 5G from the very beginning, with its transmitter product line supporting 5G. TVU Networks’ continuously collaborates with regional providers around the world in their 5G deployment efforts, continuously looking to implement that technology within its video over IP solutions.

TVU Networks solutions deployed to enhance RTVE coverage of Dakar Rally 2019

The high quality and reliability of TVU Nano Router and TVU Anywhere enabled RTVE to broadcast smartphone captured video live and full-screen in its coverage of Dakar Rally 2019

 

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – March 11, 2019 – TVU Networks, the global technology and innovation leader in live IP video solutions, today announces that the Spanish public broadcaster RTVE deployed TVU Nano Router and TVU Anywhere to contribute SDI video over wireless networks from the remote and difficult conditions of the Dakar Rally in Latin America live to the RTVE studio in Barcelona. The Dakar Rally is a renowned off-road rally endurance race that has been going on for more than 40 years.

The IP streaming videos, which were aired live on RTVE flagship channels La 1 and Teledeporte, were shot on smartphones, transmitted over local mobile networks, and delivered as HD-SDI output feeds to RTVE’s studio. It achieved this due to the ability of the TVU Anywhere app to aggregate mobile data from the smartphone and the compact TVU Nano Router, used as an additional hotspot enabled by three SIMs.

“Just getting video back from the incredibly hostile environment of the Latin American deserts where the Dakar Rally takes place is a big achievement. However, the combination of the TVU Anywhere mobile application and the TVU Nano Router provided such high-quality video coverage of the rally. TVU MediaMind’s story-centric workflow approach simplifies content creation, production and distribution while incorporating the latest integration and support for automation, AI, streaming, 4K and 5G.

“With the many, different ways media content is consumed today by viewers, broadcasters can no longer acquire, produce and distribute media for just TV.
